Why I Started Little and Deen: A Journey of Faith, Wonder, and Learning
Salaam! Today, I want to share a bit about my journey and why I started Little and Deen, a venture very close to my heart. If you're a Muslim mom looking for holistic and engaging educational resources for your children, this story is for you.
Living in the beautiful state of Connecticut, Alhamdulillah, I am blessed with three wonderfully curious children, aged 4, 6, and 7. Our days are filled with exploring nature, collecting leaves, and marveling at the beauty of Allah’s creation. We spend countless hours outside, letting their wonder and curiosity lead the way. But as a homeschooling mom, I quickly realized there were limited resources for Muslim homeschoolers in our community.
I spent endless hours online, visiting libraries, and trying to find materials that integrated Islamic concepts with subjects like science, nature, and math. For us, Islam isn't just a subject; it's a way of life, woven into everything we do and learn. I wanted my children to see the signs of Allah in every leaf, every star, and every mathematical pattern.
But finding those resources was tough. Most of what I found was either too complicated for their young minds or lacked the beauty and simplicity that would captivate them. I dreamed of resources that were not only educational but also beautiful, play-based, and experiential, ensuring that learning was a joyous experience filled with wonder and curiosity.
One evening, after a day of exploring and discovering, I had a realization. If I couldn't find the perfect resources, why not create them myself? And so, Little and Deen was born, Alhamdulillah. I started crafting age-appropriate materials that seamlessly integrated Islamic teachings with everyday learning. Each resource was designed with love, simple enough for young minds to absorb, yet engaging enough to spark their curiosity and wonder.
Our journey since then has been incredible, filled with learning, laughter, and growth, Alhamdulillah. It’s been such a fulfilling experience. Through Little and Deen, I hope to share these resources with other Muslim moms who, like me, are looking for holistic, beautiful, and play-based educational materials. Our children deserve nothing less than the best. Together, we can nurture their love for learning and their faith, creating a generation of thoughtful, inquisitive, and spiritually connected young Muslims, Inshaa Allah.
JazakAllahu khayran for being a part of this journey. May Allah bless our efforts and guide our children on the path of knowledge and faith.
